It's All About the Cones

Often when customers enter our shop we hear them exclaim “Wow! What’s that smell!?” or “What smells so good!?”. Our response? IT’S THE CONES!

It’s true the aroma of fresh baked waffle cones that hits you as you enter our shops is intoxicating in the very best way. Is it cinnamon? Butter? Sugar? Really, it’s all of the ingredients together that create the delicious scent that ALSO tastes divine. 

When we opened our Fishtown shop in 2016 we set out to create the best homemade waffle cone to pair with our ice cream. Our ice cream is a French style custard which means there are egg yolks in our house made mix. This left us with a lot of leftover egg whites. To reduce food waste, we repurposed the egg whites making them the main ingredient of our waffle cone batter!

Our baker, Christine, makes fresh waffle cone batter weekly at the creamery using the same high quality ingredients you will find in our ice creams and baked goods. Shop team members bake the cones daily at each scoop shop, perfecting each one for your scoop of ice cream. All while filling the shops with that intoxicating aroma.

Truly the best vessel for a scoop (or 2!) of ice cream. The flavor pairs so well with our ice cream that we even use pieces of broken cones as an occasional mix-in for CONEY ISLAND and COOKIE DUMP. Not only is it yummy but it’s also a great way to avoid the waste of disposable cups and spoons. Plus we got creative this past year, introducing fudge filled waffle cones (year-round) and peppermint co-cones during the holidays.
