Meet Justin Relkin. Weckerly's Kitchen Manager
For the past 4 years our kitchen manager, Justin, has been using his creativity and passion for pastry & baking to create and develop some truly inventive desserts with Weckerly’s Ice Cream. Some stand out favorites that we’ve had at the scoop shop include fresh-baked Croissant AND Soft Pretzel ice cream sandwiches, TUXEDO white & dark chocolate-dipped ice cream sandwiches, Valentine’s Day box of chocolates, SKULLS from this past Halloween, and baking fresh bread for BREAD ice cream!
He really is a magician in AND outside of the kitchen. No, seriously, Justin has been a magician for 20 years (totally for hire - @jrmagicenterainment ) in addition to being able to make incredible ice cream and pastries. He even continues to bake & cook at home under the alias of Tulip Street Kitchen, catering and teaching culinary classes for friends on the side. He pulls out all the stops for Pi(e) Day which is basically a national holiday for @tulipstreetkitchen , and for a project called #AnimalBread which features a bread made in honor of a different animal each month. Check out some of Justin’s creations below!
Teaching more is a dream food project of Justin’s. Before joining the Weckerly’s team he taught baking & pastry at a highschool in NJ, and has loved doing demos for Weckerly’s as well. Fun Facts : If Justin had to survive off of one Weckerly’s flavor he said - TIMMY TREATS! (he didn’t even have to think about it). The most unusual flavor he’s ever tasted was durian when visiting Singapore and Thailand in college.
